Do you think Pink Floyd would be where they are today if Syd had stayed with the group?
I'm not so sure that they would. My mum was growing up in that era and she says that everyone concidered the early stuff really weird and the fans were even weirder (of course it's different now) but I think if they had carried down that path, they would have faded out. What does everyone else think??

they wouldn't be as big as they are. there would be a small few who would be seriously into them. I also think that if they would have kept on Syd Barrett wouldn't be such a cult figure. Nobody would remember him because pink floyd would have never became famous.

Right. They'd basically be just an underground band of the 60's, and maybe 70's.

I'd still dig them, I actually liked Syd's work more than the newer albums/songs, not that I dont' like post-Syd Floyd.

My mum was growing up in that era and she says that everyone concidered the early stuff really weird and the fans were even weirder thats what my dad said to, no one really knew much about them with syd, and they were very strange people. Plus alot of people never really liked the whole pink floyd thing when syd was in it (back then). plus if syn never left we would be without wish you were here, and that album had a great impact on pink floyds career, and made them more "popular" so-to-speak

So true Britt...and The Wall movie would be alot different too...Pink's character was inspired by Syd in many ways...
As for Syd's solo stuff, I heard a bit of it on the Syd documentary...Its very painful emotionally....Sounds like what you would expect from a guy who has taken way too many drugs and lost everything...I dont think I could sit down and listen to a whole album.
