I was talking to someone the other day about syd barret and they said that he was overrated, and that they didnt see why roger didnt get as much credit as syd, seeing as roger actually wrote more. I dunno what do yall think? is syd overrated or was he genuinly the genius that we hold him up to be?

Just brought PATGOD today, quite cool. Interstellar overdrives bit crazy. Also saw them on some wierd 70's hall of fame thing.

Good purchase Adam. I love all the songs on Piper. Trippy...You should get the Syd Barrett PF story on dvd. It goes through all the songs on Piper and shows their inspirations etc for the album. Worth a look

No, he is not overrated, but I think his solo albums are overrated. I find alot of it painful to listen to.

because I don't actually here to much of him. It is hard to be overrated if people don't talk about you anymore.

I think that, had Syd not gone loopy, he would've been remembered as one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
Of course, there's a case for saying his work wouldn't have been as good had he not gone looopy. Oh well.

Yeah you really got to weigh everything on whether the albums are better now or would have been better if he didn't go crazy. I like them now.
