...Getting back on subject: I just bought tickets for the Pink Floyd Experience....I'm not sure if it's the same show that I mentioned on the 1st page, but it is a 3 hour tribute consisting on 2 albums: DSOTM & The Wall. It is a $2million production featuring visuals, light shows, and acting and a 9 piece band....I hope it is worth it....either way, I'm exited....

Just checked out the Aussie Floyd site. They are so sucessful - I cant believe it. It doesnt look like they are playing in Australia any time soon though, but they are touring US & Canada at the moment. Very impressive anyway. I cant wait till my PF musical...Only half a month to go....although I'm really scared it will be lame....I just heard an ad for it on the radio and it said it was about DSOTM & The Wall, but it was playing Shine On in the background...Explain? I really hope it doesnt suck

For anyone who is interested in seeing the stage show mentioned above, I finally found someone who has seen it:
Hi! The Pink Floyd experience is good, 240 000 watts of light effects and quadrphonic sound... the experience trip around the world to give show...
ok it's not Pink Floyd...nobody can do as good as pink floyd but the pink floyd experience is a good show!

...well, a good night was had by all...Well worth a look if they come to a town near you...
The first half of the show was a little dissapointing, but I think that was due to me going there with the wrong expectations. I was expecting to hear Floyd and this, although they are brilliant musicians, are not Pink Floyd.
The show started off with "shine on" which was suprising since the show had advertised DSOTM & The wall. It was not a disapointment though. The keyboard player came out from the darkness and started the long introduction which was more trancing than ever before with the help of 21st century sound & lighting effects. Then the pretend Dave Gilmour came out and did his thing. Although he looked nothing like Dave, you could shut your eyes and pretend you were at a real PF concert. He was really great. Then the rest of the band appeared - a drummer, bassist, lead singer and 3 female backing singers. The sound was fantastic but I didnt think the singer's voice was up to standard in the first half of the show. After shine on, they played the entire DSOTM album. That is one of the things that disapointed me - they played every note, every word, every solo exactly like the album and I found it too structured and uniformed. There wasnt really much heart in it. They even imitated the background voices heard on the album. They did a good job of Breathe, but when it came to Time, the guy just didnt have that course voice for it. The pretend Gilmour pulled it off though with his excellent solo. The rest of the first half was pretty much the same. Great Gig was quite poor with the female backing singers trying to match Clare's singing. I think their biggest problem was that they tried to copy Clare's exact melody note for note, when they should have just let loose. Anyway, I know it sounds terrible so far but it was excellent for a cover band. Like I said, I went there expecting to hear Floyd and thats not what it was.
The second half of the show was The Wall, which was performed live with the Band, but also as a stage production of the movie. It started off with a maid on the front of the stage vacuuming, like in the movie and then the curtains drew back as In the Flesh started. And there was Pink on the big podium with the Hammer flags everywhere and all his loyal followers.
During the production of the Wall, there were people in the background slowly bringing out bricks and building a wall across the stage until finally, by the end of the show, there was a 20 foot wall across the entire stage. And there was a big screen at the back showing clips from the movie.
Musically, the second half was excellent, with the pretend Dave's guitar solo in Comf. Numb, being one of the highlights. My only critisism was that they copied the album version rather than the actual movie, so for people who hadnt seen the movie, it was a little hard to follow.
Anyway, I recommend that anyone who gets the chance should go and see it....especially if you are under 40 and have never seen the real thing - it's the closest you'll get to it.
